Utah Summer Games Champions

Keaton and Alex's basketball teams were both entered to compete in the Utah Summer Games last week. Alex's team, TAZERS, coached by Glen, went 5-1. Check out the Tazers blog at http://www.tazersbball.blogspot.com/ for the play-by.

In the individual competitions, Alex received a bronze medal for 3-point shoot-out.

Keaton's CRASH team went undefeated, almost surrendering to the silver medal, however, in the final seconds of the game took home the gold medal also.

Sadie, well, she went to all 12 games, enjoyed some basketball friends, some pool time, and also made a name for herself as the CRASH team cheerleaders along with other sisters from the team. This is Sadie at about game #10. What a good sport!

We had a fabulous, basketball filled 3 days. Now, onto summer.

Sadie vs Scooter

Cutting to the chase . . . Sadie lost the battle verses the scooter. She was riding down the hill on her way to school and CRASH . . . she doesn't remember much after that. Already on my way to work, Glen called me and told me he would meet me at the emergency room because Sadie had an accident. When I got there, Sadie was already in CT scanning for a head injury, and x-rays for a banged up arm, and then returned to CT for a facial review. She now has road rash on most of her face, elbow, hand and knee. She has a broken - but not displaced (like that is any consolation) nose, and 4 broken perminent teeth - which is the big kicker, along with a contusion on her head that makes her pretty dizzy - not the usually dizziness of a 2nd grade girl. After over 3 hours in the ER, we took her home where she was able to rest a little bit, and then off to see Craig to have her teeth looked at because the inside was exposed and could be painful. She was such a brave but scared little girl, who was and still is in a lot of pain . . . they wouldn't allow us to take morphine home . . . but today she is doing much better and after the blood was cleaned up, she is looking better and better. Road rash really hurts, but so does a broken nose and lip that is so swollen that she practically needs to turn her head to see around it. Thanks for all of the kind notes and well wishes for her, her spirits have been lifted today, except that she is missing out on all of the fun - last week of school-activities! We love you Sadie!

And no, she wasn't wearing a helmet.

Alex's Choir Concert

Alex is changing from a tenor to a baratone - did I spell that right? He has had a good time in his singing groups and spends two nights each week practicing with the performance group. Along with travelling throughout the year for performances, he has made a lot of good friends. Awesome Alex!

Alex is next to the girl on the bottom row.

Summertime is Pedicure-time

Fancy fancy fancy, Sadie said that we should make this a tradition . . . I completely agree!

Sadie wasn't sleeping, but it was so nice that we could've!

2 Championships Same Shirt

Keaton's basketball team entered two age divisions in the same league. While Keaton is in 5th grade, he plays for a 6th grade team. They played other 6th graders AND other 7th graders. Yep, you guessed it, Keaton's team, CRASH wins the leagues with undefeated records AND they win the championship tourney's of EACH league. So they got two of the same t-shirts! Yeah CRASH!

Sadie and soccer

Have I mentioned that soccer isn't one of my favorite sports. Especially when the field is so small that they kick it out of bounds every other kick! But, it is turning into Sadie's favorite sport. She had a really good little season and is showing improvement every game. I'll keep going to her games, but I'll also try to insert a little softball in here and there.

Keaton's Viola Concert

Keaton had his viola concert during May, yes, I am late at posting all of the happenings. I am so proud of him and sticking to the early morning viola classes at the school. The concert was fun, with a little screetching here and there, but you could actually discern what piece they were playing this time. Good job Keaton. Next year he wants to play the cello! Mom's not sure about that. Sadie wants to play the Cello too, but I told her that you need to be able to carry your own instrument and since even a jr. cello is bigger than her, we'll wait another year.

We had our annual paino recital last night and the kids did a fabulous job . . . take a look! (You'll have to scroll down and 'pause' the music on the right hand side so you can hear the piano)

Anniversary #17

Last month was our 17th year anniversary. I know, 17. . . can you really believe that? Glen has always been the one to plan a surprise anniversary. . . I am lucky to remember it. This year he wanted me to take the day off and pack an overnight bag. In the morning he brought me some beautiful tulips and a note that said, following my appointment at the beauty parlor for my hair, to report to the day spa! I LOVE THE DAY SPA!
So, I had a nice color job for the hair, boy, at this age, I really needed a color. Then off to the day spa. I checked in and they knew exactly who I was and had a big facial session scheduled for me. I LOVE FACIALS! It was so fabulous I didn't want to leave, but when I did, they said, "happy anniversary" and handed me another note with a hotel key! So I went off to the fancy hotel where he was waiting to take me to dinner to my favorite place. I LOVE MARKET STREET GRILL!

We had a great meal including dessert - we hardly ever have room for dessert but we did. He said we could go to a movie, but I was so so relaxed and comfortable, why leave the fancy hotel? We just talked and laughed and talked. It was a great night. The kids were all arranged for by having our neice Anna come over to stay with them and get them off to school. I LOVE ANNA! Thank you so much. I slept in, had breakfast while Glen went off to work. I want to make that type of anniversary a tradition for sure. I don't think I need anything more. I gave Glen a book that hopefully he will enjoy, I did. And 17 reisens (reasons - thanks Heather for the idea) that I love him. Maybe I'll post them too. Looking forward to another 17!! Love you Glen.

Keaton Earns "Power of One" Award

It was Keaton's turn to earn the "Power of One" award last week. Keaton has been a Safe School Ambassador for two years now helping the kids learn about bullying and being a positive influence in and around school. He has been taking early morning viola lessons and performing in concerts throughout the year. He has hardly ever brought home homework and still his teacher says: "Keaton is Excellent in every way". I worry that it will go to his head, but for now he is enjoying the recognition. He has always had good friends, even girl-type friends. He looks out for the little guy and is the very most sensitive kid I know. Good Job Keaton - We are very proud of you and love you so so much.
